Beauty Splendour Glasgow: Beyond the Salon Chair
The past few months have been a special season for Beauty Splendour.
My work has appeared in Black Beauty & Hair magazine, I’ve been featured in Creative HEAD, and I’ve stepped into my role as a Beauty Idol Scotland judge.
Alongside that, I’ve continued developing creatively through Project Afro, exploring what textured hair can become when technique, culture and imagination come together.
These opportunities may look different from the salon chair, but they all connect back to the same thing:
Creating excellent work, raising standards and bringing what I learn back to my clients and students.
Featured in Black Beauty & Hair
One of my proudest recent moments was seeing my Crowning Glory look featured in the August/September 2026 issue of Black Beauty & Hair.
The image was part of a textured hair feature celebrating shape, creativity and the versatility of Afro hair.
For me, creative work is about more than making something dramatic.
It pushes my eye, challenges my technique and reminds me how expressive textured hair can be and seeing that work represented in a publication dedicated to Black hair and beauty made the moment even more meaningful.
Sharing the Beauty Splendour Story with Creative HEAD
My feature in Creative HEAD focused on three lessons that have shaped my journey: Look for the gaps. Build slowly. Grow beyond the chair.
Those three lessons really reflect the Beauty Splendour story.
The business began by recognising a need for more Afro hair and protective styling services.
It grew slowly, through different seasons of life and business.
And over time, I realised that my work was not only about creating hairstyles.
Hair health, technique, confidence and education mattered just as much.
That is why teaching has become such an important part of what I do today.

Stepping Into a Judging Role
September also brought a new experience as I joined the judging panel for Beauty Idol Scotland.
During our judges’ meeting and Go Radio podcast recording, I brought my perspective as an Afro Hair Specialist to conversations around technique, professionalism, hair health and representation.
That same eye guides every Beauty Splendour appointment.
When a client brings me an inspiration photo, I’m not only looking at how beautiful the style is.
I’m considering her natural hair, hairline, scalp sensitivity, extension weight, comfort and lifestyle.
Because beautiful braids should also make sense for the person wearing them.

Why Industry Recognition Matters to Beauty Splendour Glasgow?
How Beauty Splendour Glasgow Brings Industry Experience Back to Clients and Students.
For me, recognition is not only about being featured or invited into new rooms.
It matters because each experience sharpens something. Creative work develops my eye. Industry conversations expand my perspective. Judging strengthens how I assess technique and standards. Teaching deepens how I communicate knowledge and all of that comes back into Beauty Splendour.
For my salon clients, it means I am continually developing the standard of care, technique and thought behind each appointment.
For my students, it means they are learning from someone who is actively practising, creating and contributing within the wider hair industry.
The Bigger Picture
When I look at Project Afro, Black Beauty & Hair, Creative HEAD and Beauty Idol Scotland together, I see different parts of the same journey.
Client work. Creative work. Education. Industry contribution.
All of it allows me to champion the same things in different spaces:
Healthy hair. Strong technique. Confidence. Creativity. Representation.
And no matter how far the work travels, the salon chair remains at the heart of it.
