About Promise
I'm Promise Okoye, founder of Beauty Splendour, which was established in Glasgow in 2013.
My journey with hair braiding began when I was just six years old. As a child, I found immense joy in styling my dolls' hair, spending hours perfecting tiny braids and experimenting with different patterns. This hobby soon extended to my close relatives, and I became the go-to stylist for my family gatherings, always eager to transform the hair of anyone who would let me.
In my twenties, I moved to Scotland, carrying with me a deep passion for braiding and a suitcase full of dreams.
Upon arriving in Glasgow, I quickly noticed a significant gap in the market for Afro hair services. The Afro-Caribbean community was growing, yet there was a lack of salons that truly understood and catered to our unique hair needs. I realised then that my lifelong passion could fill this void and help people feel beautiful and confident in their natural hair.
Determined to turn this vision into reality, I enrolled in the KM Hair Extension Training program, the U.K.'s leading hair extension training academy. Armed with formal qualifications and a wealth of experience from years of personal practice, I launched Beauty Splendour.
Today, Beauty Splendour is Glasgow's hottest braid place, renowned for our intricate and stylish braiding techniques. With over 25 years of hair braiding and weaving experience, we specialize in various methods of hair extensions and Afro-Caribbean hair services. Our unique braiding technique is second to none, and we take immense pride in our work, making our clients look and feel AMAZING!
Our hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Beauty Splendour has received multiple awards, including the Best Afro Hair Salon award in 2022 at the(Scotland Business Award) , Gold Winner at the British Hair and Beauty Talent Awards in 2023, and the Circle of Inspiration Award in the Hair and Beauty category from BWC Glasgow. Additionally, I've been featured in notable publications such as Stylist Magazine, Spell Magazine, Financial Times HTSI, Refinery29UK, Canva Rebel US and more. Alongside my passion for hair, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, which has enriched my understanding of hair care and health. We've served over 2200 customers and garnered more than 200 five-star reviews across all our online platforms.
